Beyond Filtration Systems and Scale Protection

This three-hour in-person CPD activity is a practical, trade-focused
training session designed to deepen plumbers’ working knowledge of
water filtration systems — moving beyond product familiarity into
system design, component selection, installation best practice, and the
management of scale build-up.
Delivered by Water Components South Africa (WCSA) in partnership
with UPP Group (Pty) Ltd, the session covers the selection and correct
application of filtration housing systems — from standard triple big
blue housings through to bag filter housings and FRP (fiberglass
reinforced plastic) vessels — equipping participants to confidently
assess customer water treatment needs and specify the correct
solution.
A dedicated module addresses scale build-up: one of the most
common and costly water quality challenges affecting plumbing
systems in South Africa, with practical, product-based solutions
presented.
The training is interactive and scenario-based, with presenters drawing
directly on field experience. Participants engage with real-world
installation scenarios, flow rate calculations, and a practical question-
and-answer session. The content is directly applicable to the daily
work of registered plumbers and water treatment installers across
both residential and light commercial sectors.
The session is interactive and includes periodic breaks where the
understanding and practical application of the training is tested.
